about

"Let it Come Down" is the fourth single from the upcoming Matt Boroff album Beautiful Machine. The song borrows its title from one of the last lines in the 1989 William Burroughs poem “Apocalypse”, in which Burroughs describes “art and creative expression taking a literal and physical form”. “Let it Come Down” is a song of revolt. Revolt against the belief that the pursuit of money justifies any and all transgressions. Revolt against an attitude that sees outright lying as nothing more than a means to an end. In other words, it’s revolt against one’s own worst self. The slashing rhythms and rows of electronic buzz saws that surround Boroff’s howling vocals, are reminiscent of the industrial sounds of the late 80s, with a 21st century twist.

lyrics

let it come, let it come down
let it come, let it come down
let it come, let it come down
let it come, let it come down

I’m not here for fame, I’m not here for cash
I’m not here to touch what’s behind the glass
all I want is real, all I want is now
a chance, a way, a word, a sound

all I hear is noise, all I hear is shit
all I hear are men telling me to sit
what I know is short, what I know is sweet
a line, a code, a voice, a beat

let it come, let it come down
let it come, let it come down
let it come, let it come down
let it come, let it come down
come, come, come, come

I can see the moth, I can feel the flame
I can feel the urge moving through my veins
give me something pure, give me something bright
a storm, a pulse, a spark, a light

let it come, let it come down
let it come, let it come down
let it come, let it come down
let it come, let it come down
come, come, come, come
